Receptionist

Receptionist (RL7181) Scarborough, England

Salary: GBP8 - GBP10 per hour

Position:

A rare opportunity has arisen to join a successful family owned hotel in Scarborough. The role will be working with a well established team assisting with the day to day running of a busy reception and front of house.  Customer service and communication skills are essential for this role and customer care is highly regarded within the hotel as is a positive attitude to the job and other staff.

Duties:

  • Answering incoming calls/emails and assisting with enquiries
  • Welcoming guests to the hotel
  • Checking guest in and out in a friendly and helpful manner
  • Taking guest bookings and processing relevant administration
  • Handling cash, setting up monies for the day and cashing up at end of shift
  • Updating in- house database with relevant information
  • Preparing housekeeping and Chef Reports
  • Confirming daily restaurant bookings
  • Dealing with complaints in a helpful and courteous manner
  • Liaising with IC Scarborough information centre regarding offers and local entertainment information.
  • Assisting guests with any issues or requirements during their stay
  • Assisting in other hotel departments on busy occasions
  • Proactively respond to any other duties required.

Person Specification

  • You Must have strong level of written and spoken English
  • You Must have excellent communication skills
  • You Must have excellent customer care and service skills
  • You Must have the ability to work as part of a team and offer assistance when required
  • You Must be able to use own initiative and be proactive in attitude to work
  • You Must be confident dealing with customers
  • You Must be motivation to learn and develop
  • Ideally you will have previous experience within the same industry and job role

Hourly Rate: £8.00 - £10.00 per hour (dependent on experience) - (plus shared tips and bonus) with increment after trail period.

Hours: 36 Hours per week (5 days over 7) this will include weekends.

The hours are set by the hotel owner and usually 2 weeks in advance. The hours are set fairly and try and allow 1 in 4 weekends off (subject to the business)

Bank Holidays: All Bank Holidays apart from Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years day are normal working days and will be paid at the standard rate.  Christmas Day, Boxing Day and NY Day are paid at a premium rates (currently double time)

Annual Leave:  5.6 weeks per year – recommended that a portion of annual leave is reserved for January-March, however up to 2 weeks may be taken during the summer months – if booked before April of that year.

NB: No Annual leave is normally allowed over the Christmas and New Year’s period due to the nature of the business.
