Job Purpose:
Work with the VP, PoC to manage the entire content development process and digital production process for the PoC content portfolio. Responsible for commissioning new and updated content and establishing timeline for submission, based on specialty prioritization and PoC portfolio analysis. Individual will organize the developmental editing capability for the PoC product and establish an optimal and efficient workflow; set up and maintain an external peer review system; provide liaison with other knowledge resource developers both inside and outside Elsevier; participate in research to guide development of new products and features; and direct all other activities of the PoC editorial office, including ongoing CMS requirements.



Key Result Areas

Main Activities and Responsibilities
Content/author acquisition
• Commission specific and unique content for PoC content portfolio.
• Recruit and manage medial writers and authors and assist in recruiting external editors.
• Prepare contracts and other relevant material for authors.
• Track performance and maintain relationships with authors and editors.
• Manage schedule and budget for acquisition of new content.

Coordination of internal & external content workflows.
• Define and manage optimal and efficient content workflows for and adherence to content delivery objectives.
• Recruit external peer reviewers.
• Create written guidelines for review process.
• Maintain database of reviewers and authors; track performance and adherence to deadlines.
• Manage schedule and budget for content creation and review processes.
• Schedule regular process and progress meetings of editorial staff.
Coordination of internal content management process, including digital production and evolving CMS processes.
• Oversee entire editorial process to assure quality content and output.
• Establish guidelines, templates and schedules and ensure adherence to same.
• Ensure clear information to stakeholders regarding specification, standards, costs, and deadlines
• Schedule regular process meetings and training of editorial staff.
External relationships
• Help initiate and maintain relationships with external collaborators and customers.
• Maintain relationships with editorial board members through regular contact.
• Participate in gathering user feedback and analyzing results.
Communication/Inter-Departmental Liaison
• Keep VP, PoC and Project Manager informed of all aspects of content, feature, and functional development.
• Maintain communication with other Elsevier electronic product managers to facilitate integration of content.
• Meet regularly with personnel in other departments, including information technology, marketing, communications and others as required.
Derivative Product Development
• Assist VP, PoC and others in developing derivative products from point-of-care, e.g. apps and mobile products.

Knowledge of XML, eProduction and eworkflow processes, digital authoring tools, content management.

Required Education and Experience: B.A. /B.S in English, Science or related area; 5 or more years in publishing/digital publishing. Minimum of 3 years as a Developmental Editor. Management experience required.
