Materials Handling Designer - Structural (8042BR) Metro Vancouver, Canada

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Group Lead and relevant Project Manager, responsibilities for this role will include, but not be limited to:

- Working with multi-discipline teams to develop optimum designs in accordance with client's and other established standards;
- Developing and checking 3D models in an integrated CAD environment;
- Preparing, updating and checking materials handling deliverables in accordance with established quality procedures including:
- General arrangement drawings; Detail drawings; Design sketches;
- Structural design of Materials Handling aspects, such as: Truck and railcar unloading systems; Stackers and Reclaimers; Conveyors; Shiploaders and Ship; Unloaders;
- Development of functional, conceptual, preliminary and detailed designs;
- Coordinating the compilation of drawings with other technical staff and completing drawing reviews as required;
- Providing oversight and mentorship to junior and intermediate designers.


THE CANDIDATE

Education, Skills and Experience required for this role include:

- Technical diploma in civil/structural drafting/design from an accredited institution;
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience in structural design for materials handling projects;
- Experience in materials handling design for port terminals is required;
- Experience in the structural design of conveyors for stackers and reclaimers is required;
- Experience in the use of 3D CAD software (Bentley PlantSpace and/or 3D MicroStation) is required;
- Experience in the oversight and mentorship of junior and intermediate designers;
- Dedicated team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills;
- Analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Ability to deal efficiently with priorities and manage time appropriately;
- Self-starter with the ability to work both in a team environment and independently;
- An extremely high attention to detail and a fundamental desire for delivering the best possible product at all times;
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.


Salary: $90,010.20
Hours of Work: 40 hours/week
