Product Development Engineer

Product Development Engineer (VC2572) Driffield, England

 

Castle Engineering & Manufacturing Division are looking for a Product Development Engineer working for a major manufacturer within the construction industry.  This is a great opportunity to work with a leading business who have recently secured some extensive projects within modular steel frame design and fabrication.  The business is well established and highly respected in their sector having been operating for over 50 years and they pride themselves on innovation and cutting edge design.

 

As Product Development Engineer, you will be responsible to the Senior Technical Manager and will deal with the design and implementation of improvements across current products and manufacturing methods as well as driving innovation and looking to introduce new products.

 

This is an exciting and great opportunity to work in a business that has seen a 20% growth in turnover in the last year and is looking at a projected further increase of 20% this year.

 

In the role of Product Development Engineer, you will be required to:

 

  • Show real innovation in the conception, design, development and integration of new products within the business
  • Apply improvements to existing products and work in line with continuous improvement objectives
  • Suggest new manufacturing methods as well as new products to help further develop the business
  • Work with both production development and operation teams in ensuring a smooth transition of new working methods and products
  • Prepare CAD models to enable implementation of Driveworks applications
  • Manage and process data, including the product data/drawings ensuring it meets all relevant quality and production requirements
  • Using Design for Manufacture and assembly (DFMEA) and Failure Mode Analysis Work (FMEA) to ensure designs are fit for production

 

To be successful in this challenging yet rewarding role you will need to display:

 

  • The appropriate engineer qualifications and / or experience
  • An ability to be a self-starter able to work alone on own initiative as well as in a team
  • A working knowledge of Solidworks or similar FEA package and Driveworks
  • Examples of when you have shown and implemented innovation
  • Experience in the automation of processes, preferably including welding and fastening
  • Capability of producing engineering drawings and documentation to a good standard.
  • Excellent level of numeracy capable and computer literacy
