Castle Engineering and Manufacturing are working for a well-established business who are seeking a Design Office Manager.  Our Client is a privately-owned business who work across a number of niche markets in the design, manufacture and supply of sheet metal products.

 

As Design Manager, you will be overseeing a 5 strong design team and will be reporting into the Works Director and will be responsible for managing projects from customer brief to design, managing BOM’s right through to manufacture.

 

As Design Manager, you will need to work to high quality standards and will manage the work and overall performance of the Design Office.  You will be an integral part of the business and will work closely with all departments in ensuring all designs are fit for purpose, creating BOM’s and meeting all quality standards.

 

To be successful in the role of Design Manager you will need to display the following skills:

 

  • Experience in a design environment producing detail drawings
  • Detail knowledge of 2D & 3D CAD Solidworks or other relevant CAD system
  • Previous man management experience
  • Knowledge of design for manufacture, ideally in sheet metal
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Highly organised and experienced in organising design files and working towards ISO9001 standards

Due to the nature of the role you will be responsible for:

 

  • Managing a team of 5 Design Engineers
  • Manage and oversee the creation of detailed 3D drawings from CAD models and 3D models
  • Ensuring all Bills of Materials are correct and in line with drawings
  • Maintaining files for the control of Designs
  • Working with production in preparing drawings and design for manufacturing
  • Manage and action any changes to designs
  • Release drawings to production department
