If so, Castle Engineering and Manufacturing would love to hear from you! We are recruiting for a Principle Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to work within a busy and successful development team based in Scarborough.

 

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the ideal candidate will be responsible for instrumentation's and controls across a multi-discipline engineering, procurement and construction project.   This is a diverse project and will require someone who is solutions focused and who can offer ideas and suggestions organically as the project grows and gathers momentum.  You will be involved with all elements of Instrumentation & Controls Engineer from initial concept to design to implementation and management of both systems and contractors.

 

Working as the Principle Instrumentation and Controls Engineer you will ideally have come from a mining background and will have the ability to manage external contractors, while also proving their ability to challenge and implement processes.

 

The key responsibilities of this role are as follows:

  • Work with various stakeholders to develop project criteria specifications and ensure consistent implementation across various contractors.
  • Review contractor quotations.
  • Hold coordination and engineering review meetings with contractors and project managers within the team.
  • Liaise with contractors and equipment suppliers where necessary.
  • Assess progress and procedure related reports and suggest plans to recover slippage, correct inefficiency and to take any resulting agreed actions.
  • Advise the engineering manager of any major schedule slippages or cost overruns and their causes, major technical problems and unresolved differences with contractors.
  • Prepare, check, approve and provide technical input into project deliverables to the required quality standards in conformance with, or better than, the approved budget and programme.

 

To be considered for this role, you will….

  • Have the ability to lead and manage external contractors
  • Have extensive and detailed design knowledge of large scale projects
  • Knowledge and process plant experience
  • Preferably be from a mining background
  • Have a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Be an instigator of ideas and concepts on projects, and the ability to prove this
