Castle Engineering and Manufacturing are working for a well-established business who are seeking a Design Draughtsperson.  Our client is a privately owned company, they are global leaders in the design, manufacture and supply of niche products. Established for over 50 years, they are continuously developing their products, and are looking to appoint a Design Draughtperson to join their design team.

As Design Draughtperson you will be integral to helping and supporting the department in their product advancement and will be working as part of a team.  You will report into the Chief Engineer and will be responsible for modelling and draughting, managing the CAD data storage system and testing products as required. Day to day direction will be from the Mechanical Engineer.

 

To be successful in the role of Design Draughtperson you will need to display the following skills:

 

  • At least 5 years’ experience in a design environment producing detail drawings
  • Detail knowledge of 2D & 3D CAD Autodesk Inventor or other relevant CAD system (some training can be provided)
  • Good attention to detail
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office products (Excel, Word)
  • Ability to work well as part of a developing team
  • Highly organised and experienced in organising design files

This role is design focused and offers a real opportunity for the successful candidate to  become part of a strong and open team.  This role is an integral role to the business and will suit someone who thrives in detail design, is able to work to set processes and enjoys working in a focused role.

 

Due to the nature of the role you will be responsible for:

 

  • Creating detailed 3D drawings from CAD models and 3D models from hand sketches
  • Add BOM to detail drawings
  • Maintaining secure files for the control of Designs
  • Working with production in preparing drawings such as assembly drawings and packing specifications – design for manufacturing
  • Carrying out testing of standard products
  • Manage and action any changes to designs
  • Release drawings to production department
  • Supporting off site testing which may require some overseas travel
