Job Description

  1. Creation of initial maintenance procedures and work instructions using vendor manuals, industry procedures or procedures as required by the functions in line with internationally accepted standards.
  2. Assessing gaps identified by the Maintenance Basis program and develop the required working procedures.
  3. Processing of Procedure Change Requests (PCRs) generated by the functions. These Procedure Change
  4. Requests are generated on a daily basis by the functions and work is allocated by the procedure controller/supervisor regularly.
  5. Reformatting of existing maintenance procedures in accordance with The company Administrative Writers Guide and technical Writers Guide requirements. The time-lines are determined by management and the function in line with critical milestones for the first unit fuel load and Substantial Completion Date.
  6. Perform technical administrative activities as assigned by Site Maintenance Managers.
  7. The contracted Maintenance procedure writers are fully integrated into The company Procedures and Records Management function and systems.
  8. Possible secondment to other departments, in line with skills and procedure writing requirements.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  1. Minimum qualification and experience requirements for Maintenance Procedure Writer:
  • An engineering diploma (electrical, mechanical, I&C) with 10 years relevant experience and training of which
  • 5 must be at a nuclear power plant OR 15 years’ experience at a craft level in a maintenance environment of which 5 must be at a nuclear power plant.
  • Have at least 10 years field experience (mechanical, electrical or instrumentation & control disciplines) of which 5 must be at a nuclear power plant, with:
    • maintenance activities, system/component fault finding, technical problem resolution
    • procedure development and review, and advanced print reading skills (electrical, mechanical, P&ID, logic and control) to be able to accurately understand plant drawings.
  1. English fluency is required for procedure understanding, print reading, and interfacing with other departments, to complete the tasks at hand. A minimum English proficiency of 5.5 in all categories are required on the IELTS or equivalent scale. This is applicable to non-native English speakers and evidence should be submitted.
  2. Maintenance procedure writers must be able to understand vendor manuals from a technical perspective to apply that knowledge to procedure content and to validate or recommend technical information be added to procedures to ensure clear, concise and accurate content.
  3. The Maintenance procedure writers must understand the concept of procedure use and adherence and its application to procedures.
  4. The Maintenance procedure writers must meet the intent and requirements of The company procedure, DCMPRC0021, Station Qualified Reviewer. To meet Station Qualified Reviewer intent the procedure writers must
  5. read and understand the following The company Documents: DCM-PRC-0003, Procedure Changes and Generation;
  6. DCM-PRC- 0016, Technical Procedure Writer's Guide, DCM-PRC-0018, Administrative Procedure Writer's Guide; and LRA- PRC-0010, Safety Screening and Evaluation
  7. Maintenance Procedure Writers/Reviewers will be required amongst other to develop, update, technically verify, by desktop, simulator and plant walk down and format existing and new Human Factored (HuP) Maintenance procedures:
  8. Validate Maintenance Procedures through a review of the background documents, vendor manuals, and
  9. drawings as assigned.
  10. Support revision of maintenance procedures.
  11. Review procedures developed by other departments that may have an impact on Maintenance.
  12. Perform technical review of maintenance procedures against Operating Technical Specifications, design specifications, license requirements and documents and guidelines as assigned.
  13. Verification and validation of procedures as required and defined in The company procedures. This task will include plant walkdowns and require physical fitness to complete.
