Role Profile
Our client, a well known distributor with sites UK Wide, are looking to appoint an experienced Transport Team Leader for their site based in Manchester. You will be responsible for ensuring an efficient and compliant transport function while maintaining best in class customer service. Additionally you will be responsible for successfully coaching and developing your colleagues throughout the operation via structured appraisals and development plans. Additional responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Managing department compliance on transport legislation including WTD, tachographs, H&S and quality standards.
  • Planning and allocation of work using planning systems ensuring on time, in full delivery.
  • Reviewing and improving productivity through effective provision of planning information.
  • Cost effective utilisation of vehicles and management of vehicle maintenance.
  • Incident and accident investigation.

The hours of work for this position is Sunday – Thursday 22:00 – 07:00.

About You
The successful candidate will have experience within a fast-paced distribution operation, ideally within a temperature controlled / food manufacturing environment. You must be able to clearly demonstrate how you create a culture of engagement within your teams and be able to demonstrate clear examples of developing people.
Additionally, the below skills and experiences are essential;

  • Experience managing a fleet of at least 50 vehicles and teams of 30+ colleagues..
  • Commercially focused, with clear achievements against budgets / KPI's.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of relevant transport legislation, including tachographs and Working Time Directive (WTD)
