Senior Cloud Platform Administrator (13132) Newark, California

As a key member of RMS Cloud Operations, the Senior Cloud Systems Administrator will be responsible for the installation, configuration, setup and ongoing operational support for all RMS hosted product offerings. This position interfaces with Software Development, QA, Product Management and other operations teams involved with product delivery.
 
Essential Responsibilities:

  • Manage software and patches through the release process, including:

o    Ensure product readiness by working with product owners and developers
o    Install, configure and validate software on the RMS cloud
o    Transfer knowledge to other Operations Administrators through training
o    Production of technical documentation

  • Operate software on the RMS cloud, notably:

o    Deploy and destroy cloud resources
o    Provision new clients
o    Support clients through ticket resolution
o    Monitor application performance, security and usage
o    Respond to incidents during working hours and off hours (when on call)
o    Improve the platform through requirements to DevOps and Development

  • Support RMS hosting partners, including:

o    Coordinate and provision physical equipment
o    Work side by side at hosting locations with partners for training and knowledge transfer
 
Technical Skills Requirements:

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with application deployment and servicing
  • Production support of a client facing, highly available system
  • Author SQL queries at an intermediate level
  • Fluency with Internet technologies - HTTP, HTML, XML, FTP, Web Services, etc...
  • Understanding of network elements such as firewalls, load balancers, DNS, DHCP, NAT
  • Linux or Windows system administration, preferably both
  • Ability to troubleshoot applications

 
Skills in any of the following areas would be beneficial:

  • ITIL knowledge (certification or experience)
  • Web Servers:  Apache 2.0, Tomcat, IIS
  • Data Warehouse Tools: Microstrategy, Informatica
  • Scripting languages: Python, Powershell, Perl, Shell scripts or other language
  • Monitoring Tools: Nagios, Zenoss, Splunk
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services

Educational Requirements:

  • Degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
