Delicato Family Vineyards (DFV Wines) is looking for self-motivated and hardworking individuals to work Harvest at Black Stallion Winery under general direction of the Winemaker.

Black Stallion Winery is located in the Oak Knoll District, a wine grape growing Appellation in the southern half of the Napa Valley. Black Stallion Winery is dedicated to crafting high quality wines that are elegant and distinctive yet approachable. We focus on creating wines that reflect the true characteristics of the grape varietal and the agricultural heritage of the Napa Valley. Our portfolio showcases a balance of white wines and red wines as well as Rosé. Our wines are primarily produced in very small case lots and are available only through the winery Tasting Room or website. In 2010, Black Stallion Winery was purchased by the Indelicato Family, one of the leading family-owned wine producers in the country. The grape growing and wine making history of Delicato Family Vineyards has spanned three generations and more than 85 years.

The interns will assist the production and winemaking staff with all harvest-related activities.

Cellar duties may include but not limited to:
• Cleaning and sanitizing tanks, presses, hoses, and other winery equipment.
• Pumpovers and punch downs.
• Draining, emptying and pressing must from tanks.
• Barrel work and topping.
• Assist full time crew with receiving fruit; crushing/destemming.
• Wine movements (racking, transfers).
• General winery cleaning.

Lab duties may include but not limited to:
• Sampling, lab analysis.
• Chemical additions.
• Yeast and ML inoculations, nutrient additions.
• Use of small lot wine processing equipment and small lot lab equipment.

The ideal candidate either has a Bachelor’s degree, or is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Viticulture, Enology, Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, or other science related field. Minimum of 1 to 2 harvest preferred (cellar or lab). Strong organizational skills, strong reading, writing, communication and math skills. Experience with Microsoft Office. Ability to work overtime and weekends. Team player and able to work with others. Must be able to work rapidly and accurately, performing multiple tasks simultaneously. Chemistry experience in the wine industry is a plus.
