Role Mandate: ASX listed organisation in the manufacturing sector is seeking a Payroll Team Leader to join the company and wanting to supervise a large payroll team.

 

Role Overview

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, this Payroll Team Leader will supervise and review the processing carried out by the payroll team. On and day to day basis, your responsibility will be to supervise a large team of payroll officers and ensure the integrity of their calculations prior to disbursement, review termination calculations, interpret and implement complex awards, superannuation and all new starter administration. It will be the responsibility of this Payroll Team Leader to ensure the integrity of data, accurate payroll reporting for management and ensuring that all compliance and customer service KPIs are met at all times. 

In addition to the Payroll processing supervision, this Payroll Team Leader will also work closely the Payroll Manager with the review of Payroll Process and bring suggestions to the business on how to effectively streamline and improve the work flow of Payroll. Part of your role will be to implement process improvements and prepare the payroll function for ongoing company growth.

This Payroll Team Leader will display an outstanding ability to engage with the business and mentor and develop a team of solid payroll processors. Supervision and direction will form a major portion of this role including assisting with training and developing staff, and motivating them to grow to reach their full potential.

This role will appeal to an individual who has a solid technical payroll background with a proven leadership track record. This role forms a very supportive and integral function to the smooth operation of the payroll team.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of payroll officers with the operations aspect of the organisation
  • Assist in the process implementation of new payroll systems
  • Supervise the end to end function of payroll
  • Liaising with business partners and key stakeholders
  • Engage with team members and provide direction accordingly
  • Mentor a large team throughout the full function of payroll

 

Candidate Profile

You are currently a Senior Payroll Officer or a Payroll Team Leader with substantial experience in the all aspects of the full function of payroll. You feel comfortable with supervising a team and have a strong desire to excel in a challenging and fast paced environment. Previous experience with PeopleSoft or Preceda and an intermediate level of skill in Excel (Pivot and Vlookups) is highly regarded. You have a proven background in process improvement and have an excellent ability to motivate and train processing level staff. This role is best suited for a candidate that considers themselves as a strong team leader and displays the ability to work diligently & autonomously. The successful candidate will also have a strong background in weekly, fortnightly and monthly processing experience. You have a deep understanding of end to end payroll processing experience in a complex environment ideally of 500+ employees. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are imperative to this role. Therefore, a successful candidate will have a process improvement mindset and a passion for leading a team.
