Cubiq Recruitment are representing a growing technology based engineering company that pioneer in the design & development of electro-mechanical testing equipment for the rail and mining industries.
We are urgently looking for a degree qualified mechanical design engineer to join a growing multi-disciplined engineering team. You will have previous experience in the design & development of small – medium scale electro-mechanical products involving functional mechanism design.
Reporting to the engineering manager you will be responsible for the full product development life from detailed design, test & development through to manufacture and support installation.
Key responsibilities:
- Assist in the design and implement cost-effective equipment modifications to help improve safety, reliability and throughput;
- develop a project specification with colleagues, often including those from other engineering disciplines;
- develop, test and evaluate theoretical designs;
- discuss and solve complex problems with manufacturing departments, sub-contractors, suppliers and customers;
- make sure a product can be made again reliably and will perform consistently in specified operating environments
- manage projects using engineering principles and techniques;
- plan and design new production processes;
- use research, analytical, conceptual and planning skills, particularly mathematical modelling and computer-aided design;
Skills / Experience required:
- Degree qualified in a mechanical engineering based subject, including a thorough knowledge of mechanical engineering design principles, statics and dynamics
- Experience in a range of manufacturing techniques particularly sheet metal, fabrications and machined components
- Strong 3D modeling skills and the ability to produce detailed production drawings taking into account tight tolerances
- Experience in designing automated electro-mechanical equipment highly desirable
- Strong analytical skills and ability to perform basic engineering calculations (experience of FEA & mathematical modeling beneficial)
- Experience in designing sheet metal enclosures for safety critical equipment desirable
