ERISA Consultant (7532BR) Westwood, Massachusetts

Through expert application of ERISA knowledge, the ERISA Consultant ensures that assigned clients' plans stay in compliance with ERISA and the Internal Revenue Code. ERISA Consultants are also responsible for ensuring clients understand and meet their fiduciary obligations and that their plans are designed so that their employees can achieve financial independence. Using Consultative Selling techniques, the ERISA Consultant delivers the appropriate level of service to optimize client satisfaction and loyalty while also meeting RPS business needs, specifically cross selling and overall revenue growth. As a key contributor to the Industry Practice team, the ERISA Consultant fosters internal relationships and participates in collaborative initiatives in support of Practice objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate knowledge of industry trends and client needs
• Proactively make recommendations regarding plan design
• Provide client specific impact of new and proposed legislation and regulations
• Ensure clients’ plans maintain compliance with rules and regulations and NYLRPS operations
• Generate professional services revenue through the promotion and execution of billable consulting services; meet individual goal
• Ensure clients’ plan documents, amendments and Summary Plan Descriptions accurately describe plan provisions; influence and oversee modifications
• Negotiate and maintain Service and Trust Agreements
• Educate clients on fiduciary matters; promote NYLRPS fiduciary solutions
• Develop a deep understanding of assigned client’s business and industry, strategy, philosophy and needs around benefit programs, market position, etc.
• Establish trust and credibility with employees of NYLRPS
• Establish trust and credibility with key influencers at client organization to deepen relationships and RPS loyalty
• Establish trust and credibility with key external influencers, including Financial Advisors, Consultants, ERISA attorneys and other intermediaries to deepen relationships and RPS loyalty
• Support new sales and market development initiatives
• Participate in NYLRPS initiatives and projects
• Serve as internal resource to staff on ERISA related issues
• Develop and provide training classes on ERISA related topics

• Extensive defined contribution industry experience
• Superior ERISA knowledge
• Strong 409A knowledge
• Strong analytical, research and execution ability
• Expert communication skills
• Hold ASPPA or CEBS designations and/or law degree (or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire)
• Ability to travel at least 10% of time
