I.T. Application Support Analyst III - Decatur, IL
This is an exempt level position.
Position Summary:
Under general direction and with minimal supervision, using established procedures and policies applies advanced skills and knowledge to provide support, identify, investigate, research and resolve moderately complex and less routine questions and problems in a timely manner while maintaining a positive relationship with users. Provides advanced level training and assistance to users. Understands their limitations and refers more complex issues to higher levels for resolution. Monitors progress and may supervise and guide junior level personnel. Functions as an expert in one or more applications and is frequently consulted by others in the group.

• Ability and willingness to travel by auto and air
• Possibly work a variety of shifts
• Extensive keyboard operations.

Minimum Education Requirements:

Associates degree and 6 years job experience or at least 8 years relevant job experience.

Technical Competencies:

  • Advanced knowledge of Windows desktop and MS Office products. Must be able to train others.
  • Experience supporting 3rd party applications such as JD Edwards, Maximo, Triplepoint CXL, Business Objects, User Productivity Kit, or other Oracle software products is required.
  • Experience supporting customized or in-house built applications is required.
  • Working knowledge of relational databases with ability to understand and create SQL queries for troubleshooting purposes.
  • Experience writing and executing black box tests for software bug fixes or small software changes.
  • General knowledge of hardware and networks to aid in troubleshooting software applications.
  • General knowledge of IBM Mainframe and Open Systems. Awareness of IBM z/OS, Windows, and Linux operating systems to aid in troubleshooting software applications.
  • Experience executing Problem Management activities including root cause analysis.
  • Experience managing KPIs and reporting results to management.
  • Familiarity with ITIL practices is preferred but not required.
  • Experience acting as a team lead is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to understand and communicate in both technical and business language.
