Graduate/ Junior Java Developer - Central London - £25,000 - £32,000
Junior, Graduate, 2:1 / 1st Class Degree, Java, Computer Science, Software Engineering
We are looking for a bright Junior/Graduate Java Developer with a 2:1 or 1st Class degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics or similar degree to join one of the UKs largest software houses. You will have a genuine enthusiasm for all things software and know how to write clean, maintainable code. The ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys keeping up to date with the latest tech and playing around with new tools. You will also be able to evidence your proficiency in Java through completed university and personal projects.
In a relaxed environment, you will be working on technically-advanced, enterprise-level software amongst a team of knowledgeable developers who are in place to help develop your skills and turn you into a well-rounded, full-stack Java Developer! Through time you will become fully immersed in the Scrum process and your team and eventually mentor and coach others yourself.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our product delivery pipeline including skills, technologies, processes and tools.
- Ensure your code is developed maintaining high quality, static analysis
- Fully participate in story refinement, sprint planning, Scrums, Sprint Reviews and Sprint Retrospectives
- Produce appropriate documentation
- Provide technical support and resolve production issues
- Deliver working software in collaboration with your Scrum team to the best of your ability
- Develop software for the product you are assigned regardless of tech platform or language
- Conduct peer reviews and provide honest and constructive feedback
The successful Java Developer will have:
- A minimum 2:1 in computer science/related subject
- A strong knowledge of Java and Java fundamentals but will also consider graduates with a good grounding in one other language such as C# or Python.
- Proficiency with SQL and databases
- Some knowledge of web development technologies such as CSS & HTML
