Buyer County Antrim Salary Negotiable
We are currently sourcing an experienced Buyer for a leading manufacturing organisation based in Antrim, Northern ireland. Applicants will have an opportunity to work for a progressive and stable organisation who are experiencing growth in the current economic climate.
The successful candidate will ensure that relevant direct material is purchased at the most competitive price to support the business and will provide general company wide purchasing assistance as necessary.
Duties will include:
- supporting the purchasing department in all aspects of the purchasing function
- Ensure specified purchasing procedures are followed and approiate records maintained
- Continually seek improvements in purchasing procedures and methods in line with company's strategic growth plans
- Responsible for supplier interface including contracting, auditing and analysis, selection/deselection and development
- Ensure adequate material sources
- Strong negotiation skills to negotiate the keenest proces at the best quality in all dealings with suppliers
- Liaise with suppliers on a daily basis and develop strong supplier partnerships
- Liaise closely with relevant internal departments
- Manage material costing and all associated material aspects on nominated customer programs
- Travel as required to trade fairs and vendor premises
The successful applicant will have at least 2 - 3 years experience in a purchasing environment and have first class negotiation skills. You will have a proven ability to manage multiple contracts whilst working in a pressurised environment and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You must be educated to Degree level.
It is desirable that applicants have a formal qualification in Purchasing and have experience working in a high volume manufacturing environment. Experience of using MRP/ERP systems is also desirable.
