Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer - Electrical (AJ/MCB/BRA/ENG) West Yorkshire, England
I am recruiting for an Electrically biased Multi Skilled Engineer for a client of mine based in West Yorkshire.
The role is working on a Double Days shift pattern and paying circa £36k
Key Activities:
- Ensure all engineering tasks on the assigned line/equipment are carried out and recorded on time and in a safe manner
- Produce T-cards and use CMMS (Piranha) for all jobs to be planned/carried out on the assigned equipment
- Effective communication within own team and across shifts regarding technical status of the lines/equipment
- Ensure lines and equipment are left in a fully functioning state for the next shift to take over
- Properly record all parts used for maintenance and repair, booking out against line / equipment.
- Interface with the maintenance planner and stores personnel for the planning & provision of spares, materials and equipment
- To identify and carry out Continuous Improvement (CI) activities in conjunction with line production colleagues, and create T-Cards and One point lessons to cover these
- Carry out line changeover activities in conjunction with production colleagues, including contribution to SMED programmes and other lean activities
- To perform preventative maintenance schedules and tasks including lubrication, overhaul of spare modules, and planned downtime activity (in association with the maintenance team), using T-Card (or other) system to record actions and to generate follow-up works as needed
- Help identify and adhere to standard settings for all equipment in the Filling hall and Mixing
- To contribute to, and where appropriate own, line improvement/replacement projects
- Technical training provision for production colleagues and engineering apprentices on assigned lines/equipment
- Maintain skill and knowledge base, sharing knowledge with colleagues
- Carry out all required repairs and or diagnostics in Mixing, covering the associated system, and all pumps, valves, vessels and pipe work etc
- Ensure that housekeeping standards are maintained and improved
- Own and co-ordinate the effective completion of the Engineering tasks designated from the Engineering task list/ CMMS /Handover/ 3C’s and Near Miss documentation
- To provide assistance in the development of the engineering apprentices
- Active involvement in new product projects and capital projects
- Ensures safe working and ensures that their working environment is kept tidy, complies with all relevant HSE Legislation ie Electricity at Work Regulations and BS 7571.
- Deputise for engineering team managers in case of absence
- To have and utilise electrical skills
Education and Experience
- Time served Apprentice trained in Electrical Engineering ideally to HNC/NVQ level 3 or City and
- Multi skilled with proven electrical/ mechanical competency
- Continuous improvement and root cause analysis skills, TPM and “World Class”
- Welding and machine shop skills desirable but not essential
- Proven problem solving and diagnostic skills and Root cause analysis tools
- Literate and numerate (GCSE level English and Maths or equivalent desirable)
- Ability to interpret documentation in English Language
- Experience in food FMCG or equivalent process industry
- Familiar with packaging lines, drives, conveyors, rotating machinery, pumping equipment and valves
- Familiar with pneumatically and hydraulically controlled systems
- Competent in safe working procedures
- Knowledge of suitable continuous improvement processes and skills application
