An experienced Business Analyst role, with expertise in a variety of tools, providing value to the business through effective process analysis, requirements development and documentation. o Facilitates requirements gathering sessions to understand and document complex business needs, often eliciting hidden requirements and/or clarifying vague or unclear requirements. o Clarifies vague, undefined business needs, helping partners define requirements and how to address them considering the goals of the whole organization. o Applies a thorough understanding of business processes and user needs to formulate and define system scope and objectives. o Analyzes business operations and processes to understand strengths and weaknesses and support the identification of opportunities for automation. Proactively identifies opportunities for process automation and may lead any resulting process redesign efforts. o Creates workflow diagrams to document current and future business environment. o Ensures accuracy of functional requirements/specifications for use by development team. o Tracks progress of projects to ensure alignment to requirements; manages any deviations from requirements to ensure resolution. o Reviews test plans and scripts for completeness and accuracy. o Leads the business analysis phase of a project. o Develops alternatives and provides recommendations supporting the business case. o Participates in the development of RFIs, RFPs and project plans.
Typical candidates will possess 4+ years of relevant experience and BA/BS degree, or equivalent. o Maintains current knowledge of industry and business process trends and is able to apply that knowledge focusing on process improvement. o Understands complex business processes and is able to document them in a logical and comprehensible manner. o Possesses familiarity with multiple technologies, business analysis tools, development methods and systems, and a basic understanding of programming languages. o Possesses familiarity with a variety of development methods, including agile and waterfall, and how it applies to own work. o Functions independently with limited work direction. o Proactively manages scope creep with business partners, IT colleagues and vendors as appropriate.
o Is able to identify goals or requirements in user areas that are conflicting with overall organizational goals for technology implementation, and raise them appropriately. o Identifies and/or develops business performance measures to track the benefits of a project or service. o Has a good understanding of the general competitive landscape from a business and technology perspective. o Possesses a high level of knowledge and expertise in the business processes, products and services of various business units and how technology is used for decision support. o Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP) designation from International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) or Certified Usability Analyst (CUA) designation from Human Factors International (HFI).
