Salary: GBP20000 - GBP24000 per annum

The Purchasing Assistant will have a vital role in the daily running of the company supply chain and purchasing activities, fundamentally ensuring the smooth and efficient receipt of goods to enable successful sales activity in-line with company KPI’s

 

Key Duties:

  • Raise purchase orders with key supplies
  • Chase purchase orders and communicate relevant information to colleagues and customers
  • Liaise with internal departments to facilitate and enable sales and marketing activities
  • Analysis of product pricing and implementation of agreed company pricing strategy
  • Analysis of market and competitor trends
  • Develop supplier relations and attend regular supplier meetings
  • Report data and recommendations to management on products, pricing, and supply chain activities
  • Source new products and review the existing product portfolio
  • Monitor supplier performance, resolving and escalating issues where necessary
  • To assist management in cost saving and efficiency initiatives

In addition, you may be expected to perform other duties commensurate with this position or as required to assist the business needs. Any additional tasks will be kept within your abilities and skills range, and training will be provided if necessary. Such agreement should not be unreasonably withheld.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a high standard of customer service and care within your area of responsibility

  • Ensure all work produced is of a high quality standard and adherence to standards laid down in Company procedures or as directly by your line manager

  • To co-operate with the Company on Health & Safety matters and not interfere with or misuse anything provided for health, safety and welfare purposes
  • Keep areas of work clean and tidy
  • Ensure that any equipment supplied for the purpose of your work is maintained and any defects are reported
  • All employees have a responsibility to carry out their work with due regard for the environment. The Company Environmental Policy procedures relevant to your area must be followed
  • Attend ongoing product and quality training when required
  • Any other duties as deemed appropriate by your line manager

 

Person Specification:

  • Procurement background
  • Analytically minded and able to interpret masses of data to present recommendation and take agreed action
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Proficient in Excel
  • A willing attitude to develop, innovate and succeed
  • Proactive approach and cable to operate in a face paced environment
  • Able to plan, organize and prioritise
  • Proven record of problem solving and decision making
  • Able to embrace and adapt to change
