Responsible for the design, development, implementation and maintenance of web applications for Cox Communications Southwest Region utilizing development standards, Java technology stack, best practices, and multiple software development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Collaborates with business analysts to review detailed requirements and design solutions to meet customer requirements.
Writes functional/technical design specifications and software estimates.
Designs solutions from the persistence layer to the presentation layer in an n-Tier architecture environment by identifying key business entities, data stores, and external systems.
Works with team members and project manager to resolve questions with requirements, data input, customer intent, output requirements, and inclusion of internal checks and controls for each project.
Delivers quality software by possessing a working knowledge of Object Orientated programming techniques.
Develops low maintenance and highly reliable code. Ensures code is peer reviewed for accuracy, efficiency, and coding standard guidelines.
Participates in operational reviews to identify and define opportunities to improve systems, services, and processes.
Evaluates and modifies existing programs/systems as directed by business requirements for new features, database access, and reporting.
Evaluates and recommends software and hardware to meet specific business requirements.
Completes projects and code assignments within specified timeframes utilizing project and time management techniques independently or as a member of a development team.
Contributes to the application, security, and group development standards.
Creates, modifies, and manages installation/maintenance guides, where applicable.
Creates weekly status report of assigned project status, system events, and evaluations.
Provides technical support and on call duties for applications in production.
Stays current with software development industry direction for new and emerging technologies by conducting independent research and attending training sessions.
Performs other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED
Education: BA/BS in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience: Generally 2-5 years directly related work experience in web application development, data driven system implementation, and troubleshooting. Experience with JSF, AJAX, Object Relational Mapping concepts, and relational database designs. Proficient in ANSI SQL. Time may be credited for college coursework in applying experience requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS - DESIRED
Other: Experience with Seam, RichFaces, XML, Maven and writing build scripts. Experience setting up JEE application servers, preferably JBoss 7. Experience with applications that interface with Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server database platforms. Knowledge of C# .Net and Internet Information Server.
