Flexibility required as schedule can change due to business needs.
Includes On-call rotation

Responsible for Provisioning & Remote Technical Assistance for new implementation of Cox Business customers and their services (i.e. T1Voice, PRI Voice, EPL, EVPL, EPLAN, EVPLAN, COI, etc.) which will combine a triple play like offering (Video, Data, Voice) to any end customer that Cox Communications services. Serves as Total Solution Subject Matter professional for a suite of Cox Communications and OEM products, in support of current and future Integrated Networking Solutions. Works on team that manages 24/7 network. Work hours will cover 24/5, shift work and On-call responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Communicates effectively with all levels of Cox Communications and Cox Business customers in resolving complex problems.
Provisions/configures aggregate devices, routers, switches, optical access, DWDM, CMTS, DACS and OEM equipment that carries video, data, and telephony traffic.
Works closely with and assists customers engineering integrator on integration to the Cox network.
Performs acceptance testing of new Cox Business circuits.
Ensures new equipment is alarming and reporting in monitoring systems.
Performs software upgrades to optical multiplexers and aggregate devices according to architecture engineering guidelines as required.
Performs bandwidth upgrades to existing customer circuits.
Uses various applications for implementation, test and acceptance (Remedy, NetSmart, SAM, Preside, Granite, Procomm Plus, Secure CRT).
Interprets service orders and circuit diagrams and makes on-demand engineering design changes and updates to Granite database.
Performs internal and external escalation on all hardware and software failures and circuit troubles as they relate to implementation of new services.
Performs After Action Reviews on failed implementation.
Coordinates with inter-departmental personnel, Local Service Providers and customers on new circuit turn-ups.
Owns and updates trouble tickets as they relate to new circuit turn-up.
Ensures all service level agreements are maintained.
Provides all necessary weekly/monthly activity reports.
Keeps up to date with new technology product deployment standards to provide support as they are implemented.
Performs other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED
Education: High School Diploma, GED or equivalent work experience. Associate Degree in electronics preferred.
Experience: Generally 2+ years directly related work experience with SONET multiplexers, digital cross-connect systems, data networks or provisioning telecommunications systems. Or 3+ years directly related work experience with Native Ethernet systems, Cisco, Juniper, or Alcatel Lucent. Time may be credited for college coursework in applying experience requirements. Certification may be required in some areas.
Other: Working knowledge in SONET technologies such as (NORTEL, Cisco, Alcatel, Tellabs and Fujitsu) and working knowledge in IP Networking such as (BGP, MPLS, OSPF, L2VPNs, etcin implementation/ test and acceptance. Be technical in multiple technologies
QUALIFICATIONS - DESIRED
Five (5)+ years of directly related work experience
Five (5)+ years experience in network design and troubleshooting technical issues
Certification for A+
Certification for Network +
Cisco Certified Network Associate - CCNA
Basic knowledge of the Arris Cornerstone Platform
Basic knowledge of Nortel Digital Switch Platforms
Intermediate knowledge Interconnecting Cisco Network Devices
Intermediate knowledge of Juniper or Alcatel Lucent platforms
Intermediate knowledge Fujitsu optical multiplexer Platform
Intermediate knowledge DWDM Platform
Intermediate knowledge Tellabs DCC Platform
Intermediate knowledge protocol analyzers, T1, T3, OC3/12/48/192/DWDM standard test equipment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Intermediate knowledge of IP protocols (DHCP, HTTP, TCP/UDP, FTP, TFTP, IP, DNS, etc.).
Intermediate knowledge of IP services (MPLS, BGP, OSPF, QoS, etc.)
Basic knowledge of DOCSIS
Intermediate knowledge of OSI model and services (OSI layers, IEEE standards).
Intermediate knowledge of structured cabling (Cat. 3, Cat. 5, etc.)
Intermediate understanding of protocol analyzers and data packet format.
Intermediate computer skills to include MS Office software applications.
Intermediate knowledge of telecommunications, transmission systems, SONET, timing, digital cross-connect systems, DC power systems, and related Data telecommunications systems.
Intermediate ability to use T1, T3, OC3/12/48/192/DWDM, Ethernet, CSU, NIU testing utilization standard test equipment.
Ability to understand troubleshooting processes.
