Sr. Associate, Competitive Intelligence in Life Products (8003BR) New York, New York
This position will partner the Product Research & Competitive Analysis team with competitive intelligence for the life products department. The position will analyze competitor product features and general industry trends to support the product development process. The Sr. Associate’s input and work effort will help design the life products developed by the department and sold by over 10,000 New York Life agents generating over $600 million in annual sales across the country. Sr. Associate should understand insurance products, have excellent analytical and communication skills, and attention to detail. They need to demonstrate an ability to think strategically about industry trends and competitor actions and articulate their implications for New York Life. The role is based in NYC. Essential Accountabilities • Evaluate the competitive positioning of New York Life and its life products. Develop materials to communicate industry and competitive issues. • Develop and maintain excel models benchmarking New York Life and its life products relative industry equivalent products. • Support the Life Product Management team and key internal stakeholders by analyzing competitors’ life insurance products features and competitive positioning relative to New York Life • Stay abreast of industry news and regulation affecting the life insurance industry and monitor marketplace trends. • Help establish and maintain relationships with key industry groups to facilitate the sharing of product and marketing materials.
Functional Knowledge • Bachelors degree required • 2 - 5 years working in an analytical role preferred, financial services experience a plus • Pursuit & Completion of Higher Level Professional Designations (e.g. – MBA, ChFC, CFP, CLU, FSA/ASA, etc) preferred but not required. Technical Expertise • Skills required include: o Strong PC skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access o Basic quantitative skills, including statistical support o Ability to articulate key takeaways from industry news supported with data and analysis o Strong written and verbal communication skills Leadership • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team • Collaborative Team Player who has demonstrated ability to work well across organizations • Strong organization skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills • Be flexible and able to re-prioritize projects based on short notice.
