Head Fabrication

Job Purpose:

The purpose of the Head (Fabrication) is to manage the onshore fabrication requirements of the Project, to ensure objectives are met within the approved scope, budget and schedule; and to ensure that all work is completed in accordance with safety and quality standards applicable to the work.

 

Key Result Areas:

  • Focal point at onshore fabrication site, for implementing safety leadership and safe execution of the work.
  • Undertake fine management responsibility for Site Safety performance.
  • Assist the Construction Manager in executing Project responsibilities.
  • Manage all onshore construction requirements of the Project, to ensure the technical objectives are met within the approved scope, budget and schedule.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of fabrication, construction, hookup and mechanical completion.
  • Report progress, performance, initiatives and issues to the Construction Manager.
  • Ensure construction interfaces with Project PMT, Site PMT and Contractors are effectively managed.
  • Support external interfaces with RLC and other operators.
  • Monitor Contractor performance and provide advice as necessary, to ensure design goals, design philosophies and specification are achieved.
  • Coordinate the input and review the development of Contractor detailed engineering, procurement, schedule and execution plans, to complete the work.
  • Schedule and arrange technical support to shareholders.
  • Lead, monitor, and approve Contractor onshore construction work.
  • Monitor and appraise the Contractor’s performance for safety, quality, cost and schedule; ensure that appropriate corrective actions are taken when needed.
  • Verify physical progress and approve or endorse Contractor invoices, as appropriate.
  • Ensure Contractor design documents and other submittals are reviewed and approved in accordance with the EPC contract requirements.
  • Ensure technical aspects of the Risk Management Plan are managed effectively.
  • Review and approve design changes, specification revisions and exceptions in accordance with the Project Management of Change (PMOC) processes.
  • Coordinate all onshore construction changes, including justification for cost and schedule impacts, in accordance with the PMOC procedure.
  • Provide technical support to procurement activities.
  • Ensure the onshore construction expectations of the Quality Assurance plan are met.
  • Prepare technical presentations for review with senior management.

  • Work effectively within established procedures, or create and endorse new procedures as necessary to further develop the Project Management philosophy.
  • Work on large capital expenditure projects in a highly dynamic team environment, with tight deadlines, high pressure and visibility, requiring accuracy, initiative and the ability to multi- task.
