Geography Teacher Required for Secondary School in the Scarborough area!

An excellent position has arisen for a Geography teacher in the Scarborough area. The school we are working with are looking for an enthusiastic teacher, with recent experience of Geography at Key Stage 4. The position is to start in September, however they are prepared to bring this forward to April, if required.

This is a fantastic opportunity to take on leadership responsibilities and establish Geography as a subject of excellence in the school. The successful teacher will be working within a school that has a strong culture of effective teamwork. You will have high expectations of pupil behaviour and establish a consistent level of discipline, maintaining productive and respectful relationships with students.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of promoting good progress and outcomes for pupils and seek to raise expectations and provide challenge. Responsibilities will include planning, preparing and delivering course material. You will be highly motivated with the enthusiasm and vision to inspire young people.

The skills, experience and qualities we are looking for include:

  • To be an outstanding classroom practitioner with a passion for teaching Geography
  • Plan for progression across the age and ability range they teach, designing effective learning sequences within lessons and across series of lessons informed by secure subject/curriculum knowledge
  • Build on the prior knowledge and attainment of those you teach in order that learners meet learning objectives and make sustained progress
  • Have a good, up-to-date working knowledge and understanding of a range of teaching and learning strategies and know how to use and adapt them, including how to personalise learning to provide opportunities for all learners to achieve their potential
  • Know the assessment requirements and arrangements for the subjects/curriculum area, including those relating to public examinations and qualifications
