Technical Procurement Technician (J1104) Peterlee, England

RMS – Resource Management Solutions are currently recruiting a Technical Procurement Technician on behalf of our client who are a longstanding automotive supplier based in the North East of England.

Reporting directly to the Team Section Leader and it will be your role to provide technical support to Engineers within the department to ensure effective implementation of product introduction projects in line with principal accountabilities.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, issue and maintain component drawings.
  • Support the introduction of new / modified products and delivery of cost down targets through project management & facilitating APQP processes in line with agreed project milestones, quality requirements & budgets. Value of projects up to €1 Million.
  • Flexibility to travel regularly including international travel
  • Project management for changes to existing products & cost down initiatives through design, test & launch phases.
  • Manage APQP processes for product introduction
  • Generate improvements to product / processes / systems at suppliers that deliver QCD benefits
  • Ensure supplier PPAP approvals and support launch readiness at supplier & plant.
  • Facilitate cross-function activity to support sample manufacture, processing trials & post-build reviews.
  • Deliver professional technical representation on behalf of the company in face-to-face supplier technical and product development meetings.

 

Desired Qualities

  • Educated to minimum ONC level (or equivalent qualification) in an engineering discipline
  • Experience in a high volume automotive manufacturing environment

  • Experience of project management

  • Work effectively within a cross-functional team

  • Good technical problem solving ability.

  • Use of AutoCAD - 2D

 

Desirable Attributes

  • Experience in a high volume automotive manufacturing environment

  •  Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a project management or production engineering role

  •  Experience in a TS16949 environment.

  •  Experience of forging, machining, heat treatment and grinding.

  •  Experience of supplier liaison / team coordination

  •  Experience of managing projects activities.
