Network Engineer – Network Support – Birmingham
Networks / engineer / firewalls / VoIP / SIP / Data / Wireless / routers / switches / support
Network Engineer required for leading retail company based in Birmingham to assist in supporting and maintaining the organisations Network and IT Security Platforms. You will provide 3rd line support for all aspects of network, infrastructure and security.
Key Skills
- Demonstrable experience supporting networks, including wireless networks – Firewalls, Routers, & Switches
- Knowledge of VoIP solutions and SIP
- Experience of working in an IT support environment
- Understanding of IT infrastructures (Windows Virtual Server environments, operating systems, storage systems, backup systems and Group Policy)
- Knowledge of Data Centre Infrastructure and set up
- A working understanding of ITIL framework with specific reference to incident and change management
Key Responsibilities
- To assist with network development network across MPLS and VPN networks.
- Incident Resolution – Troubleshoot and resolve escalated incidents using recognised IT diagnostic tools in accordance with the organisation’s IT Service Delivery policy, including meeting all relevant SLAs.
- IT Security – Liaise with Line management and teams with respect to IT security issues. Work with IT colleagues and application owners to maintain high security standards.
- Firewalls – Provide General support and change management assistance with respect to internal and perimeter firewalls.
- Monitoring and Alerting – Monitor and maintain, alerts for business-critical IT services/tasks.
- Project Work – Work with key contacts within the organisation and external suppliers to deliver on IT projects as required
- To assist with the maintenance and support all server operating systems within the organisations Enterprise Infrastructure Environment as maybe required.
- To perform daily health / maintenance checks on Infrastructure.

The salary my client is offering for this position is between £27,000 and £30,000 per annum depending on experience.
