Did you know that laboratory results impact 75% of the medical diagnostic process? All the data entry our Specimen Processing Technicians perform plays a critical role in helping physicians provide accurate diagnosis and medical treatment.
So, what does a Specimen Processing Technician do?
- Accurately enters patient information and lab test information into the company’s lab system as lab specimens arrive at our laboratory.
- Verifies accuracy of entered information.
- Delivers specimens to the technical floor in a timely manner.
- Complies with all safety rules, and follows defined safety practices.
- May need to pour specimens (blood, urine, etc.) into containers for testing purposes.
Who you are:
- Detail oriented and comfortable working in a fast paced environment.
- Comfortable sitting and typing during your entire shift. At times you may help sort out specimens which will require standing for long periods of time.
- Comfortable with set structure and following procedures
- A team player who is aware that your work is critical in helping medical providers and hospitals provide excellent patient care.
Who you are not:
- Someone who is grossed out by blood, urine, body parts, or working with anything the human body can produce.
- Overwhelmed by a fast-paced environment.
- Uncomfortable typing information on keyboard for long periods of time. Data entry work is not your thing.
- Unfamiliar navigating through different screens on the computer.
- Uncomfortable with set schedules and showing up to work on time.
Must Haves:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Comfortable seeing all types of bodily fluids in containers.
- Motivated, results-driven individual.
- Excellent work ethic and commitment to patient care.
Ideally, you also have (but OK if not):
Experience working in a laboratory setting. Good typing skills.
