We're working with one of the most disruptive and innovative fintech start-ups, who are seeking a hands-on, articulate and reliable Mid Level/Senior Software Engineer (Java, Scala, AKKA, API, JVM) to join their quirky, London based office.
You will be joining a fast-paced, pro-active and innovative team in the world of Fintech Simulation and AI, working amongst the A-listers of tier 1 banks. As the Mid Level/Senior Software Engineer (Java, Scala, AKKA, API, JVM) you will be required to give direction, as well as get deep in to the nitty gritty, remaining hands-on and continually driving best practice forward.
As the successful Mid Level/Senior Software Engineer (Java, Scala, AKKA, API, JVM) you will work with the other engineers to coordinate work between different areas of the codebase, as well as work with the product team to discuss, inform, and plan future product roadmaps.
The core competencies and responsibilities for this role are as follows:
- Experienced programming background, building software iteratively.
- Strong proficiency in Java and Scala and the JVM in general. Ideally experienced delivering software to enterprise environments, and/or building libraries/SDKs.
- Demonstrable experience in and knowledge in some of: high-throughput or low-latency systems, data intensive applications, garbage collector and JVM internals, off-heap storage approaches, and other performance concerns.
- Experience in some of: Akka, Sangria, Spark, Hadoop + ecosystem, building distributed systems, performance critical systems/code, API design.
- Able to discuss and review programming and architectural decisions, adopt and improve development practices within the team.
- Able to work with product team and happy to provide input on product plans and goals.
- Comfortable working with a minimum of 3rd party dependencies.
