The Role
If you enjoy meeting people as much as you enjoy reading and talking about books, this is the perfect role for you.
As well as replacing stock on the shelves and keeping the library in good order, the job involves using the library computer system to control the circulation of library stock and give information.
Good computer skills in packages such as MS officewill be important, along with excellent communication skills, stamina and a positive attitude towards training and personal development from induction onwards. You will also be involved in delivering children’s activities including Rhymetimes and Storytimes.
With Dittons Library open 42 hrs per week, staff may be asked to change work patterns to cover for sickness etc, so you will also need a flexible approach. You will also be required to be available to work at other Surrey County Council libraries. Literate, numerate and able to work under pressure, you must also be a good team player and, above all, committed to delivering high qualitycustomer care.
Travel Information:
There are no staff parking facilities at Dittons Library, however there is a public car park with limited free parking, opposite the library. The nearest train station is Thames Ditton, which is a 5 minute walk to the library. When making your application, please consider your travel costs and arrangements.
