Hardware Test Engineer Summary:

Signature Consultants is seeking a Hardware Test Engineer for an opportunity in Mountain View, CA. The Hardware Test Engineer will conduct mechanical and environmental testing to demonstrate the reliability of products and materials. In this role you will be in the lab working closely with product teams and other cross-functional teams to highlight failures which drive corrective actions within the products and company. As a Hardware Test Technician, you will work closely with the engineering team in support of Reliability, R&D, product development, and production. You will use state of the art equipment and techniques to test the reliability of products and materials.

Responsibilities:

• Follow established reliability test procedures and perform various environmental and mechanical reliability testing, photography of failures for documentation, and report generation
• Set up and run test equipment (Instron tensile/compression system, Optical/digital microscope, Environmental chambers, Corrosion chambers)
• Record, analyze, and report test results using spreadsheets and charts
• Perform mechanical testing including shock and vibration, surface durability, material characterization (tensile, compression, etc.) using a load frame, drop testing and tumble testing
• Operate thermal chambers for temperature and humidity testing
• Program axial robots
• Provide timely updates on testing progress
• Responsible for several tests / products throughout the development life cycle
• Responsible for safe operation of test setups
• Document work performed via posttest reports

Required Skills:

• S. in an engineering field
• 2-4 years of experience in a testing lab or manufacturing with mechanical (some electrical) component / system testing
• Experience with laboratory equipment, sample preparation, and general lab processes
• Use of Environmental Chambers
• Experience using electrical equipment: to power test systems, to monitor performance and for failure
• Strong computer skills
• Spreadsheet and presentation familiarity
• Able and willing to do repetitive tasks
• Able to work alone and with a group
• Strong attention to detail
• Good verbal and written communication skills dealing with internal and external customers
