We specialise in the design, development and manufacture of complex medical devices for the world's leading pharmaceutical companies at low, medium and high-volume manufacturing scales. We are focused on continual product innovation for drug delivery devices production and have been dedicated to world-class design, industrialisation and reliable high-volume supply for over 50 years.

We currently have exciting opportunities within our Cambridge based R&D / Innovation centre for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead projects and teams to drive the creation of new drug delivery devices within the business.

Key responsibilities include;

• Development of new drug delivery products, from early stage product concepts to ready for clinical trial devices in line with company innovation strategy, Quality system and Development Process.
• Plan and execute projects, using agreed project protocols, to deliver emerging technology from specification to handover (including internal and external validation activities, the management of scope changes and communication with key stakeholders), either by leadership of projects, work packages or contributing as a team member, to meet project targets and ensure output meets with customer expectations and operational needs.
• Directing and mentoring work completed by less experienced colleagues (such as level I and II team members) to support their personal development and ensure that tasks are completed in line with project plans

As a degree qualified engineer, you will have significant experience gained in the design and development of high precision products with complex mechanisms or small plastic moving parts, preferably within the medical device or pharmaceutical industry. You will have a talent for understanding how things work with the ability to understand a device / product operation from first principles in such a way you can explain this to technical and non-technical individuals.

The desired candidate will have previous experience of managing cross-disciplinary teams in a new product/concept development environment and have undertaken the role of Project Manager on technical product development projects. You will have developed complex injection moulded components, mechanisms and products and have expert knowledge of a range of manufacturing processes including high volume production of plastic components.
