Chemist (Materials Engineer - Construction Coatings)

Our client provides a certification and inspection service to the construction industry to ensure that manufacturers’ products, systems and services are ‘fit for purpose’.
The main responsibility of the Chemist will be to plan, co-ordinate and carry out assessments of construction products and systems, including coatings, waterproofing materials and roofing.
You will be managing multiple projects where you will be expected to prepare contract offers and estimates for the assessment of various types of construction products and systems.
The job holder will be required to research and investigate all aspects of the construction product/systems’ performance in question.
You will work as part of a team, contributing to team and individual targets and objectives.
You will also regularly converse with clients, ensuring maintenance of good quality service and standards, at all times.
The ideal candidate will:
- have at least 3 years’ experience of testing and validating products and materials and the relevant Codes and Standards.
- have knowledge of developing coatings or waterproofing materials
- have worked within the construction industry
- have membership of a relevant technical/professional body such as: The Institute of Minerals, Mines and Materials or The Royal Society Of Chemistry.
