Protocol is working on behalf of a leading Further Education College in the Nottinghamshire area, who require a Transition Coordinator for a fixed term contract. The college are looking for a candidate who is able to work 4 days per week for at least 2 months (08.30 – 16.30).
This role is extremely specialist and involves the co-ordinator interviewing students with quite complex needs on a one to one basis (this normally takes about 1 ½ hours), setting up individual taster sessions and generally organising transition from School into College. The co-ordinator also goes into schools to market the provision, co-ordinate school visits to the department and completes observations of students within a school setting. The co-ordinator also links with other educational providers and specialists and attends EHC (Education Health Care) review meetings. The co-ordinator at present also takes responsibility for day to day management of the staff working in our animal care provision; they are not line managing but ensuring a smooth running of the provision. We would not expect the candidate to have a background of animal care but some experience of working/co-ordinating the work as a team. The animal care provision has approximately 96 students. Ideally the person would have a transition background and experience of working with Learners with Learning Difficulties or Disabilities. They will need to be well organised and have experience of be able to take responsibility of speaking with learners over minor disciplinary issues. In addition, if the person has teaching experience we would also see if they are able to pick up some modules.

Suitable candidates will meet the following criteria:
• Ideally hold a teaching qualification.
• Must have a level 3 qualification in specialist area.
• Have proven experience of providing outstanding support for learners.
• Be flexible and self-motivated with a dedication to student achievement and quality.
