Nomura are currently looking for a Market Data application support professional on a permanent basis to join their newly formed market data technology team.

Department Description:

Working within a newly formed team - Market Data Services - with reporting lines into the CTO Office, the candidate will provide operational support for Market Data applications and undertake specific projects to support changes in front office technologies.

Whilst the predominant focus is in the Front Office, there is opportunity to learn infrastructure systems like TREP, Bloomberg Enterprise and DACS from the team.

Role Description:

An associate level candidate is required to provide IT support to the front office for Market Data software and systems. The associate’s tasks includes but not restricted to the following tasks:

  • Provision of 2nd line support and maintenance for the Market Data front office applications. Assist Market Data users in answering ad-hoc data queries.
  • Plan and manage the installation and/or upgrades of the Market Data front office applications.
  • Liaison with Market Data vendors to report and escalate issues. Influencing Market Data vendors to provide improvements and fixes to known application issues/bugs. Ensure effective communication with the Business and other stakeholders on issues.
  • Work closely with in-house support teams to troubleshoot issues.
  • Assist with testing and quality assurance of new Market Data applications and software updates, including DR planning and testing.
  • Follow Nomura standards for change management, issue resolution and reporting. Create, maintain and update support documentation and procedures.
  • Facilitate the process of data contribution creation for the front office.

Skills & Experience required

  • Strong communicator and able to liaise with IT Support, business units and vendors
  • Good team working skills
  • Ideally worked in a front office environment and gained experience dealing with traders and problem solving.
  • Strong level of experience supporting applications in a financial institution
  • Ability to communicate (written & oral) effectively to both technical and non-technical staff
  • Experience of financial instruments and markets

Desirable skills

  • Knowledge of UNIX/Linux skills, shell script and networking would be beneficial
  • Knowledge with working with TREP and Market Data applications e.g. Bloomberg, Eikon, FactSet and DataStream
  • Knowledge of market data monitoring tools and systems
