HR Generalist

HR Generalist (NOV03) Peterlee, England

RMS – Resource Management Solutions are currently recruiting an HR Generalist on behalf of our client, a Global Manufacturer who are based in Peterlee

A PERMANENT position, this is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving company who looking to add value to their current HR Function by bringing on board an HR Generalist to work closely with the HR Manager.  

Working Hours are:                 Mon – Thurs                      8am – 4.30pm

Frid                                       8am - 3.30pm (39hrs per week)

Role Overview: The role will involve working in a fast paced manufacturing environment in loud vibrant open plan office supporting the needs of the business. Working alongside the HR Manager, you will be actively involved in Employee Relations, Recruitment, Training, Project work, Apprenticeships and Absence Management

Day to Day duties will include, but are not limited to: 

  • Providing advice and supporting the managers in line with the company disciplinary policy
  • Providing advice and supporting with absence management across the site 
  • Managing occupational health diary and refer employees as necessary
  • Undertaking appropriate actions from resulting occupational health reports
  • Conducting regular absence audits to monitor compliance with absence control procedures
  • Providing reports to management on results and make recommendations for improvements
  • Developing human resource systems specifically to support analysis of absence patterns and trends 
  • Adhoc Project work
  • Assessing employee performance, training and development
  • Liaising with Colleges and training bodies with the Apprenticeship scheme
  • Managing the Apprentices on-site (training, 1-2-1’s, attendance)
  • Recruitment across numerous disciplines (Job evaluations, Job descriptions, Salary bands, Screening CV’s, Offers of employment, Inductions)
  • Compiling reports for Senior Management

To be considered this position you must:

  • Previous HR experience within a busy manufacturing, production or engineering environment
  • Excellent knowledge of HR policies & procedures
  • Experience of working with recruitment agencies would be advantageous
  • Computer literate, word, excel (essential) and HR Database Systems
  • Sound knowledge of the principles of Employment Law in particular, statutory rights, Equality Act 2010, Discrimination & rights of individuals at work
  • Experience in assisting with disciplinary and grievance
  • Experience in absence control procedures & managing absence in general
  • Qualified to CIPD or degree level in HRM
  • Understanding of the Apprenticeship levy scheme
  • Experience of compiling and presenting training and inductions
