We work with one of the largest providers of Offender Learning Provisions in England to find exceptional trainers, tutors and support workers that have the drive, patience and compassion to work with those looking for a chance to turn their lives around and gain the skills they need to build a better future for themselves.

Each prison has its own purpose built OFSTED registered education department, boasting with both fully equipped classrooms for academic subjects and custom assembled workshops for vocational courses.

We currently have a requirement at HMP Stocken for an ongoing full time Additional Learning Support Practitioner who is able to encourage and support the learners throughout their academic and vocational studies. You will be working closely under supervision of the teaching staff, supporting them in the classroom or operating on a one-to-one basis assisting and mentoring learners who may have learning difficulties.

Hours of work – Monday to Thursday 8:00am until 5:00pm and Friday 8:00am until 12 noon

Suitable candidates will meet the following criteria:
• Have a good basic general education including GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English at Grade C.
• Hold an NVQ2/NVQ3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
• Have experience of working in a learning environment.
• Have well-developed interpersonal skills in relating to prison staff and in working with students who may have little experience of education and training.
• Be computer literate and have the ability to work as part of a team and on their own initiative.
• Have good organisational skills and be able to meet deadlines.

If successful, you will need to go through Prison Security Clearance, this procedure takes approximately 2 – 4 weeks. You will also be required to have a fully enhanced DBS.
