English Functional Skills Tutor

English Functional Skills Tutor (EnglishtutorSCW) Winchester, England

Salary: GBP121 - GBP132 per day + Including Statutory Holiday Pay
It is often suggested that people are neither innately good nor bad but are influenced badly and make poor choices. That in mind do people whom repent not deserve a second chance?

What if you could help them take the first steps in turning their lives around and put them on a better path whilst giving them the skills and knowledge they require to succeed? Whilst making a real difference to people’s lives you could also benefit from the following:

- Flexibility to take holidays inside “term time”
- No marking or prep at home – all done on site in working hours
- Manageable class sizes of 6-12 learners
- Increased earning potential for sessional and on-going staff as Education runs all year and not just term time only
- Competitive hourly rates of pay

Sound good? Then maybe you should consider Offender learning! With prison education being at the heart of the current reforms, there has never been a better time to think about become an Offender Learning Lecturer/Tutor or Trainer. Furthermore Would you rather be living next to someone that has had no support or education and is likely to continue down a path of crime and or addiction or next to someone that has been given the support and tools to turn their life around and be a functioning member of society?

Each prison has its own purpose-built Ofsted registered Education department, boasting both fully equipped classrooms for academic subjects and custom assembled workshops for vocational courses. All subjects delivered are fully accredited with a view to the learners gaining recognised qualifications.

We are currently recruiting for a Full-time English Tutor for a large prison in the Hampshire area.

You will need:

- a recognised teaching qualification
- a level 3 English qualification
- at least 1 years experience of teaching English or Maths in a classroom setting
- competent IT skills for maintaining and updating student portfolios
- own transport – due to the locations of the prisons
