Ab Initio Administrator

Job Description:

Ab Initio Administrator Summary:

Signature Consultants has an opportunity for an Ab Initio Administrator.  In this role, the candidate will administer Ab Initio production environment and respond to event alerts from the production monitoring tools. They will be responsibility to set up Control Center jobs, schedule jobs, manage master schedule, job operation, job performance evaluation release code to production. The candidate will work with developers and business areas to design, configure, deploy and maintain custom ETL Infrastructure to support project initiatives. He/she will work closely with server support teams for work involving problem determination and implementation of changes to hardware, software, applications or network systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Upgrade Ab Initio suite of tools (Express>IT, Control Center, CoOp, bridge, GDE etc.) in the environment
  • Coordinates efforts to resolve event alerts by communicating issues to clients, responsible IT engineers, Client Services Managers, and IT managers until resolution of the event
  • Performs first level troubleshooting of issues on infrastructure and software environments
  • Responsible for creation of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for production events
  • Coordinates with Implementation Group on new client activation or expansion of existing client service expansions
  • Coordinates with Client Services Group on any requests from clients including testing and/or additional or non-standard monitoring as requested by clients
  • Works and communicates directly with clients for any production events
  • Responsible for continual improvements of client job scheduling and workload management
  • Work to standardize repeatable tasks and Environmental configuration for ETL (Ab Initio Co>op Server, GDE, EME, Gateway Servers, other Ab Initio products etc.)
  • Design & Develop Standards & Best Practices/Process and Automate existing manual processes
  • Maintains production support documentation library ensuring documents are current, accurate, and available to appropriate groups
  • Follows and supports IT business processes including change management, configuration management, and disaster recovery and business continuity
  • Actively participates in Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity planning and testing. Activities to include actual live fail over and fall back exercises

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years’ experience in distributed systems development using Ab Initio software
  • 2+ years relevant Ab Initio Administration experience in managing & supporting Ab Initio ETL infrastructure environments, within any operating systems
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or related technical field
  • Previous experience with UNIX required
  • Experience with Hadoop is a plus
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Additional Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge in Ab Initio Co>ops, EME, GDE, Conduct>It, Express >IT, Control Center, MHUB, Query>IT, Authorization Gateway, other Ab Initio products from admin standpoint
  • General understanding of Ab Initio Continuous Flow process and Ab Initio Batch processing
  • Strong Experience in Korn Shell scripting (ksh)
  • Strong knowledge of code promotion process including EME branching
  • Strong Experience in version control tools and code deployments to various environments
  • Strong Experience in Ab Initio migration projects and basic understanding of schedulers
  • Familiar with Ab Initio Co>Operating system and other Ab Initio web products installation/configuration/upgrades, Multi-File system design and configuration
  • Experience with Hadoop, Linux, Windows, Oracle and SQL Server
  • Good understanding of performance tuning practices using Ab Initio
  • Tomcat experience a plus
  • Strong knowledge of server capacity planning, server maintenance and monitoring
  • Demonstrates excellent troubleshooting and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work different shifts and weekends - this group is a 24x7x365.
