Control Engineer (Technical Utilities Adviser)

Control Engineer (Technical Utilities Adviser) (BBBH116919) Providence, Rhode Island

Serve as technical liaison between client's customers, partners, product deployment teams, project
managers, and sales managers.

Responsibilities:

* Lead Volt/VAR Optimization system installation projects at customer locations
* Complete system designs and corresponding system configurations on time and
within budget
* Manage customer relations and capture product expectations/detailed project design
specifications
* Become the trusted advisor for the customer's technical management
* Conduct review of client’s circuits and equipment; provide design evaluation
* Coordinate all commissioning and testing at customer site
* Support client on configuration of electrical utility controls such as voltage regulators and
capacitor when needed
* Develop working configuration documents from system design documents and
implement/schedule all developed programs and processes
* Develop project scope and test plan documents
* Document Quality Assurance concerns
* Manage integration of VVO system into customers’ SCADA network.
* Provide product training to customer
* Assist customers with performance and training issues related to substation and automation
systems
* Perform utility communication protocols as well as word processing, spreadsheet and database
software tasks (including macro programming, and IT Networking)
*Monitor grid applications and control technologies for delivering optimal Volt/VAR Optimization
and substation performance in real-time


Requirements:

* Working knowledge of the following technologies (RTUs, SCADA, PLCs)
* Solid understanding of utility communication protocols (DNP3, IEC-61850)
* Working knowledge of Linux OS
* Word processing, spreadsheet, and database (mysql) skills—including macro programming
* Solid understanding of applications and control technologies used for grid automation to achieve
optimal voltage and reactive power control
* Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or Computer Science
* Minimum 3 years of experience in the electric utility distribution field involving substation
engineering and industrial controls engineering is desired
