Category Manager – Portsmouth – 12 month contract – £27.91 per hour LTD
We are currently looking for a category manager to work for a major defence contractor based in Portsmouth on a 12 month contract. Candidates with experience of working within the Defence sector in particular within maritime are highly desirable.
The Role:
The successful candidate will be involved with the development and delivery of procurement and supply chain strategies, as well as the associated engagement and management of suppliers, projects, and other stakeholders to ensure that project and business objectives are met.
Duties:
•Developing and implementing robust Category Management strategies
•Engaging with suppliers.
•Ownership of and delivery of the sub category plan, including the delivery of agreed business objectives.
•Collaboration with the Programme/Customer teams in order to ensure options for the projects/platforms are provided with guidance on solution selection.
•Monitoring and management of spend through the preferred supplier list.
•Managing Risk and Supplier vulnerability.
•Leading supplier development activities for key players within the category and in line with long term strategies.
•Leading contract negotiations in line with spend management and drive supply chain rationalisation
Skills and Experience:
•Excellent communications skills with the ability to interact and communicate clearly and concisely internally within the Company and externally with the Customer and Supplier up to MD level
•Ability to build positive and effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels
•Excellent organisational skills
•Able to develop effective strategies for negotiating with suppliers.
