Logistics Manager (Fixed Term Contract) (170494TGY) City Of Manchester, England

Salary: GBP18 - GBP21 per annum + 18 - 21 per hour

To lead and support the Warehouse team to achieve Targets, maintain required levels of Quality and Safety and Deliver Continuous Improvement.

- Responsible for the effective management of all warehouse related activities and organisation of priorities
- Ensure that daily targets are achievable, resources are allocated appropriately and work is sequenced to meet daily delivery requirements
- Manage Team Leaders and Operators within the Warehouse, while displaying knowledge and successful application of Lean Manufacturing Techniques and Six
- Sigma tools to drive continuous improvement and success in the areas of delivery, productivity, quality, inventory and safety. Ensure people & resources are matched to meet customer requirements
- Promote a safe working environment & ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with current HS&E legislation and Company Policies
- Drive improvements across the Warehouse including Standard Work development, external warehouse solution, internal/external process re-engineering and stock accuracy.
- Develop work procedures and manage operation in line with QS9000 & IATF 16949 standards
- Prioritise & progress maintenance issues
- Management of the FLT fleet to include maintenance, repairs and utilisation
- All stock management, to include, annual stocktake execution, cycle counting, parts identification, cleanliness and packaging management
- To be a Key user and trainer on related systems and processes, SAP, Kardex, MHS etc
- Liaison with sub contractors for warehouse related support
- Ensure customer deliveries are met for parts shipped from Cheadle liaise with Stocklor (Distribution centre in France)
- Monitor the performance of the team, celebrating achievements and providing corrective actions on audit findings, and assuring that accountability is driven throughout the entire team to the individual level
- Develop, implement and review training skills analysis and development plans to ensure skill flexibility across the team.
- Play an active role supporting the Supply Chain Manager on developing and deploying operating strategy
- Manage performance issues with the team, through monitoring attendance and performance implementing corrective actions where necessary
- Accountable for management of change to ensure that all HSE and Quality implications are considered
- Mentor and coach Team Leaders to drive the development of the teams
- Any other duties not specified as required by the business

Attributes/Skills Required/Sought:
Knowledge of ERP/MRPII software processes, preferably SAP
Strong communication skills with the ability to lead & motivate others
A continuous improvement driver, setting up problem solving & improvement teams where necessary (both functional & cross functional)
Good time management skills
Self-motivated, proactive and driven.
Ability to develop strategy and translate into actionable plans & drive change through influence.
Ability to work with colleagues as part of a team to achieve individual and Company objectives

Experience/Education Required/Sought:
Six Sigma (Black Belt, Green Belt or Lean) Certified preferred
Direct supervisory experience (within a manufacturing environment preferred)
Graduate /Qualification in Leadership preferred

Pay rate - between £18 - £21 p/h (PAYE only)
