Our client is creating a new in-house customer research function which aims to use a wide range of research techniques to find out what customers think about, and want from the organisation’s services. The client needs an experienced Research Manager to help plan and undertake a wide range of primary research projects; provide training on advanced qualitative methods to existing company researchers and support the development of customer journeys.

You will work with insight teams and key stakeholders undertaking; focus groups, immersion, ideas generation and co-creation, customer journeys and depth interviews.

You will:

As Research Manager, you will work with the Governance Manager to:

• Identify primary research projects that fall under the remit of the project, working closely with the Behavioural and Customer Insight Team (BCI) members.
• Develop the research programme ensuring effective management of all aspects of the programme including resource planning, programme costs and risks.
• Collaborate with wider analytical community to provide a comprehensive offer of robust research and analysis.
• Manage a team of in-house researchers carrying out at quick pace a range of projects, ensuring that:

o The research meets the client brief
o Research methods are appropriate and correctly applied
o Sampling is robust and appropriate
o Project management and monitoring procedures are put in place

• Oversee the presentation of key project findings to senior management and stakeholders.

Skills and experience:

• Experience and expertise in undertaking research in a wide range of areas with diverse types of participants, including businesses and hard-to-reach individuals
• Substantial experience in all stages of the research process including evidence review, research design, delivery, write up and dissemination
• Experience using project and programme management tools to monitor delivery
• Experience applying innovative qualitative methods such as participatory research, innovation and ideas generation, immersion, co-creation and co-design, ethnography, and customer journeys.
• Experience applying traditional qualitative research methods e.g. depth interviews, focus groups, and survey design and delivery
• Excellent qualitative analysis and insight generation skills
• Experience managing teams of staff
• Experience managing research programmes
• Experience presenting research to audiences of senior decision makers

Ideally you will have:

• Have experience using statistical packages such as SPSS, Stata, SAS or equivalent
• Experience working in the digital space e.g. carrying out user research, using web browsing/ eye tracking software
