IT Network Manager - Birmingham City Centre

Network Manager required for a global organisation based in Birmingham City centre, where you will play a key part in a growing infrastructure team. Leading a small team, you will be responsible for the design, development, management and operation of all network equipment globally. This includes WANs, LANs, MANs, internet connectivity, all internal cabling/patching, security appliances, other network appliances, including the underlying network load balancing capabilities support by a 3rd party, unified communications and remote network connectivity, whether hosted on premise or in third-party locations.

The ideal candidate will have sound technical network knowledge and experience, alongside experience managing/leading a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure team objectives and priorities are aligned with the business’ vision, objectives and priorities and proactively support the implementation of the IT strategy in terms of the key themes and goals.
  • Develop and maintain the appropriate team structure and personal to achieve objectives within agreed budgets and timescales.
  • Manage and develop the budget for the network infrastructure function in coordination with the other managers in the IT department.
  • Review and improve processes regularly; identify inefficiencies and improve operational processes ensuring that the team member’s roles are fully defined and developed.
  • Continually seek to improve on performance levels by taking advantage of new technology and anticipating changes in market practices, industry trends, process trends etc.
  • Support the team in attaining operational goals, and ensure the actions of the team are aligned with the organisation’s values.

Key Skills of the role

  • Proven network management experience, including hands-on network knowledge as well as team management experience.
  • Networking and security appliance technologies including but not limited to Juniper, Cisco, Checkpoint, Fortinet, Palo Alto, NetScaler’s, Riverbed appliances and WiFi technologies
  • Experience with the design and support of WANs, LANs, MANs, internet connectivity, security appliances and other network appliances such as WiFi services and the underlying network load balancing capabilities support by our third parties, unified communications and remote network connectivity, whether hosted on premise or in third-party locations.
  • Solid MPLS, Routing and VPN capabilities
  • Mitel and Skype for Business / team integration
  • Cloud connectivity experience
  • Understanding of Cyber security best practice, and knowledge of project delivery cycles and frameworks.
  • Experience working with external suppliers/3rd party suppliers would be desirable.

Salary

The salary for this position is between £65,000 - £75,000 per annum, plus an excellent benefits package.
