Senior IT Network Engineer – CCNA/CCNP - Central Birmingham

Senior Network Engineer required for an enterprise organisation based in Birmingham. You will be required to build, implement, deploy and support on premise networking and infrastructure. You will play a key part in providing troubleshooting, maintenance, and support of the Cisco Core switch and HPE distribution switches within the infrastructure estate.

The ideal candidate will have strong networking experience and will be comfortable working with large-scale network environments. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident network professional to gain exposure to a wide range of networks/firewalls/technologies.

Key responsibilities of the role:

• Provide troubleshooting, maintenance, and support of the Cisco Core switch and HPE distribution switches within the infrastructure estate
• Managing and configuring firewalls, networks (WAN / LAN), wireless networks and supporting management infrastructure such as Cisco, Prime, ISE
• Expand the coverage of expertise for physical and virtual networking, and Cloud based security and Cybersecurity services
• Expanded support of SDWAN based services across the Cloud team
• Work with Vendors and suppliers to provide ongoing maintenance and support for networking infrastructure
• Work with the Operational security team to help develop traditional and cyber security controls
• Implement continual serviced improvement across the Infrastructure and Operations function

Key Skills of the role:

• Demonstrable experience with core network technologies in large-scale deployments
• Experience providing support to enterprise level clients
• Good working knowledge and experience in a Cisco environment, Knowledge of Checkpoint Firewalls, Demonstrates excellent troubleshooting skills, Intruder Detection Systems, LAN & WAN, Routing Protocols, eg OSPF.
• Appropriate certifications in core technology platforms (CISCO, HP, Fortinet, Checkpoint)
• Ability to troubleshoot complex, technical, multi-site and multi-disciplinary problems and incidents
• Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
• Strong background with core network, compute and storage technologies in large-scale deployments

Salary

The salary for this position is between £50,000 – £53,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus excellent benefits. There is excellent rumination for on-call hours worked.
