Technical IT Project Manager - System/Application – Derby
Technical IT Project Manager required for a growing organisation based in Derby, not far from the train station, where you will play a key part in the delivery of challenging projects, working with developers, architect’s and testers to drive and encourage innovation, automation and continuous improvement of an exciting and disruptive product.
The ideal candidate will be a technically strong project manager, comfortable working in conjunction with developers and architects on challenging system integration/application development style projects.
Key Responsibilities of the role
- Ensure appropriate delivery resource is identified, utilised optimally and skill gaps are addressed.
- Proactively identify and resolve road blocks, in partnership with the relevant individual/team/sponsor.
- Day-to-day management of solution delivery projects, demanding and driving high quality.
- A focus on continuous improvement and continuous learning, ensuring the team have clear standards.
- Provide support and direction to the delivery resources to ensure the work is delivered efficiently and is right first time.
- Allocate clear, realistic, safe and effective work packages for solution delivery activities.
- Provide open and timely highlight/exception reports.
Key Skills of the role
- Proven track record of successful IT project delivery, either infrastructure, system upgrade/integration or application projects etc.
- Team management/mentorship experience, comfortable matrix managing small to medium sized project teams.
- Understanding of the software development life cycle, and an ability to operate effectively in the initial design.
- Excellent communication, conflict resolution, negotiation, team building and relationship management skills.
- Experience of IT project management methodologies and techniques.
- Good knowledge of MS Project and PRINCE2, certification would be ideal.
Salary
The salary for this position is between £45,000 - £55,000 per annum, plus excellent benefits and fantastic company culture.
