Senior Production Engineering Manager


Hours Monday to Thursday 8am-4.30pm

8am-4pm Friday’s

Salary is £45-50K PA Dependent upon skills & experience


TM Resourcing’s Technical Division based in West Yorkshire are currently seeking Production Engineer on the behalf of our lighting and lighting controls manufacturing client based in Ashton-Under-Lyne.


Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

To manage the company’s Production Engineering resources to maximise effectiveness and deliverables in each of it’s four streams.


Product Engineering – In conjunction with the Technical Department, ensure the effective introduction of new and revised existing products into production using up to date DFM techniques including the introduction of modular late configurable products with minimal fixings and standardised components.

Process Engineering – Detailed process analysis to identify waste and lean both direct and indirect activities associated with production using appropriate 6 Sigma and lean tools. Also to carry out necessary studies to build product routing and time standards and create SOPs and BOMs for configured products based on standard and generic masters.

Forward Engineering – To identify how product is to be manufactured looking forward in terms of capital equipment, automation, updated control systems, factory layout, reducing cost and lead-time, but increasing quality, agility and flexibility.

Facilities Management – Manage a maintenance team responsible for Machine repair and site management. Maintenance budget approx. 400k


To be heavily involved in developing manufacturing strategy. Capital investment per annum approx. £1m.

To maximise the use of shop floor and other knowledge bases through the introduction and leadership of formal continuous/lean improvement teams.

Product Engineering Team 12 people, Maintenance team 5 people, Security and Housekeeping 4 people.

Passionate about engineering to a high standard



Management of the Production Engineering Department of a manufacturing company with a turnover between £50M and £100M producing high variety, mid volume, electrical products where reliability, functionality and aesthetics are critical.

Good understanding of automation, component standardisation, DFM

Demonstrable and measurable history of improving production performance especially quality.


Professional and Academic Qualifications:

Degree in Production Engineering.

Continuous professional development in a variety of improvement tools Lean, 6 Sigma, DMAIC
