Data Modeler
We are looking for a Data Modeler for a contract position with our direct client in the Cincinnati Ohio area.
Job Functions:
Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models for OLTP, DSS relational and DSS multidimensional database solutions.
Develop and implement strategies and methodologies in support of Master Data Management initiatives.
Lead or actively participate in end-user requirement gathering meetings
Facilitate modeling sessions and design walk-throughs with DBA and development team members
Work with DBA;s to convert logical data models to physical data models for implementation
Gather and maintain accurate metadata in Erwin models.
Work with Data Architecture team to ensure proposed database implementation conforms to our client’s corporate data strategy.
Provide operational support for existing models including impact analysis, logical and physical data model changes and metadata updates.
Follow corporate best practices for Data Administration and Data Modeling to support the corporate methodologies.
Write efficient SQL and store procedures against database tables on various platforms.
Profile and analyze data during the application development. Act as a data SME for developers, testers and business analysts.
Create and maintain the XML schema and collaborate with SOA developers during WSDL creation.
Tutor and mentor less experienced data models on data modeling best practices.
Required skills:
3 - 5 years of transactional and dimensional data modeling experience on UDB, Oracle or SQL Server platforms.
Solid understanding of Master Data Management principles.
Demonstrated experience gathering and translating requirements into conceptual, logical and physical data models using Computer Associate’s Erwin
data modeling tool.
Solid understanding of canonical model for an Enterprise Message System.
Strong communications skills both oral and written, with the ability to influence peers to senior level managers.
Must be able to handle multiple projects and assignments concurrently while maintaining high levels of quality and effectiveness with a minimum of supervision.
Experience using metadata repositories a plus.
Proven customer service skills.
Highly motivated and service oriented.
Knowledge of SOA governance and design practices a plus.
BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and complex workflows.
Proven communication and presentation skills to effectively communicate information to customers and to all levels within the organization.
Ability to interact well in a team environment.
Experience with project planning.
Ability to travel independently (10%)
Desired experience
IS related associate degree, or a bachelor’s degree, or comparable work experience in an Information Systems position or related business position
Experience with large-scale system design and integration tasks, comprising design and implementation of major systems.
Prior experience with project planning with large size or large level complexity projects.
