Network Engineer – Cisco – Birmingham City Centre

Network Engineer required for a dynamic and professional organisation based in Central Birmingham. You will be required to build, implement, deploy and support on premise and cloud hosted networking and infrastructure. The role will focus on expanding the businesses network and security support coverage.

The ideal candidate will have strong networking/Cisco experience, along with a desire to work with the latest cloud technology (Azure, 0365 etc)

Key responsibilities of the role:

• Provide troubleshooting, maintenance, and support of the Cisco Core switch and HPE distribution switches within the infrastructure estate
• Managing and configuring firewalls, networks (WAN / LAN), wireless networks and supporting management infrastructure such as Cisco, Prime, ISE
• Expand Microsoft Azure Cloud platform network
• Expand the coverage of expertise for physical and virtual networking, and Cloud based security and Cybersecurity services
• Expanded support of SDWAN based services across the Cloud team
• Work with Vendors and suppliers to provide ongoing maintenance and support for networking infrastructure
• Work with the Operational security team to help develop traditional and cyber security controls
• Implement continual serviced improvement across the Infrastructure and Operations function
• Deployment and administration of workloads within Azure and other Cloud environments
• Administration of Office365 and other SaaS based environments

Key Skills of the role:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to cross skill and troubleshoot network related issues including routing, switching, firewall and load balancer configuration
• Collaborative and results orientated approach towards issue resolution
• Desirable to have experience in the following:
  • Microsoft Azure services and APIs
  • Azure networking, VNETs, DNS, DHCP, WAF, and firewall configuration and maintenance
  • virtualised platforms, storage area networks and physical servers
  • Microsoft Office365 setup, administration and management
  • Windows Server (including IIS)
  • IaaS, Paas, SaaS

The salary for this position is between to £40,000 – £45,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus excellent benefits including flexible working and pension.
