Position Overview
The Environmental Advisor will act as environment focal point with regards to identification and management of environmental risks, compliance and continuous improvement.


Accountabilities
Maintain a thorough understanding of relevant regulations and best practice
Develop a close working relationship and work proactively with the onshore and offshore teams to provide timely and accurate environmental advice
Support & promote the environmental element of the SEMS and roll out changes to designated site(s)
Actively seek areas for environmental performance improvement and develop sustainable efficient solutions
Take lessons learned from incidents and audit findings and employ them within the designated site(s) and designated subject area
Assure the quality of incident investigations performed by site(s)/ operations and their compliance with company procedures
Follow and comply with company Golden Rules, Procedures, & Policies and hold others to account to do the same
Enable change and continual improvement within the HSE Department and wider organization
Work closely with the Function and HSE Lead to promote proactive and consistent environmental support to the business


Key Duties
Environment focal point for assigned asset group, providing direction, support, assurance and regulatory interface
Engagement with operations/wells/projects to establish and implement management strategies for environmental issues
Act as focal point for regulatory inspections for assigned asset group
Support the continuous improvement of the environmental elements within the SEMS and participate in audits
Monitor site permit compliance and coordinate permit updates / renewals
Monitor and communicate operations and performance data against targets and regulatory limits
As site focal point develop and maintain procedures / tools and assurance techniques to allow all sites to comply with the associated regulations and meet best practice as efficiently as possible
Deliver the environmental audit and assurance program
Support incident investigations so that lessons can be learnt and are effectively communicated across the site(s)
Support delivery of the environmental element of the assigned asset group’s HSE Plans


Education Attainment & Accreditation
Relevant degree or post graduate diploma (or equivalent) in an environmental discipline or a core science would be preferred, or considerable technical experience in a similar role


Professional Skills & Experience
Previous experience as an Environmental Advisor for an offshore operator is favoured
Knowledge and understanding of the UK regulatory regime
